Better Cocoa from the ground up.

In May 2024, we headed to Mexico’s cocoa heartlands where we met farmers, changemakers, and forest protectors redefining what “good cocoa” looks like.

From family-run farms to rewilded jungles, they’re proving that cocoa can heal the land, lift communities, and fight climate change, one tree, one bean, one bold idea at a time.

Together, we’re backing their vision through microprojects that regenerate soil, build drying houses, and keep their circular farming dreams growing strong.

Meet the farmers

Meet the women championing agroforestry in Mexican cocoa farming.

Meet Ana

A biodiversity champion showing how regenerative farming comes to life at Hacienda La Luz.

Meet Alma

A customer-first cocoa farmer proudly carrying her heritage at Finca Las Delias.

Meet Viridiana

An organic farming advocate and cocoa gastronomy leader at La Campesina del Cacao.

Meet Eselita

A biodiversity champion showing how regenerative farming comes to life at Hacienda La Luz.

What We Learned

Each farm shaped our view of cocoa farming, teaching us:

  • Regenerative methods work: Biodiversity and circular systems make cocoa more resilient, higher quality, and better for the climate.

  • Flavour starts on the farm:  Careful fermentation, drying, and handling shape taste long before chocolate-making begins.

Simple tools drive big change: Simple tools like drying houses and composters can go a long way in improving land health and cocoa quality.

Our microprojects in motion

These microprojects were designed by farmers, for farmers. Each one tackling a local challenge with lasting results.

Hacienda La Luz

Regenerated 2 hectares of cocoa forest.

Hacienda RC

Built a new drying house to protect harvests.

Finca Las Delias

Added a wood chipper to turn farm waste into compost.

Finca Cacayo

Built a community drying house for post-harvest care.

La Campesina

Built a community and provided tools for post-harvest care.

More than cocoa

Every bar, nib, or cup that begins in Bolivia carries more than flavour. It carries hope, skill, and shared purpose. When you bake or create with The Cocoa Circle, you’re helping farmers grow stronger crops, reforest their lands, and build brighter futures.Because this is more than cocoa. It’s a movement.
